Sometimes you just look back and remember how it was, where you've been and what the journey's been like... Then you realise what's been important, what is important and where you are now - more what you are than what you maybe intended, but that's what life's about, isn't it?

We met in our final year
You were in art school and I didn't care what I was studying much
We got close as the days grew long
Your hair was gold and your eyes they shone (and I loved you so).

We moved in to our own place
Our attic flat had seen better days (but it was home)
I DJ'd in a local club
You worked on the bar in an old man's pub and we got by (more or less)

I put up an ad to get in a band
I played guitar and bought myself a van - and we did ok. No money in it
You thought we should get real jobs
So we did and bought a house in the cheap end of town and we worked hard all day - kept the weekends for play

Three years in she came along,
Her hair was gold and her eyes they shone - and we loved her so
One week early but that's ok
I worked a bit harder and got better pay, then we moved again

Then number two she came along
Her hair was gold and her eyes they shone - and we loved her so (three weeks early)
Things were tough - moved to my home town
Gotta another place cos I laid the money down
And the kids went to school

I started playing in another band
A guitar in my hands and plans on my mind but they went nowhere too
Now time's slipped by and the kids are grown
Jobs and plans and homes of their own but we're still here

It's a Friday night having drinks with friends
The sun's going down as a another week ends - and I'm tired
Now I was looking over as the shadows grow long
